“YOUR CHOICE, MY FUTURE”

Marking the beginning of festivities this September at STI College Muñoz EDSA is a blast of oratorical competition that was participated by various highly enthusiastic schools around the city. The event was held on September 7, 2012 and was heralded as “the voice of the youth oratorical competition 2012” that bears the theme, “Your Choice, My Future”.

The program proper started with an invocation and the singing of the national anthem, which was followed by a very welcoming and inspiring speech from Mrs. Amy Dalisay, the school administrator.

The six high school participants were Marnelli P. Catacutan whose coach was Mrs. Jenete S. Bautista from Francisco High School; Lhiezel R. Mones whose coach was Ms. Erlinda Posilero from San Jose High School; Mar Jun Ricaicar with Mrs. Corazon T. Galvan as his coach from Judge Juan Luna High School; Alvin Royce Alanib with Ms. Maria Cristina Arquiza as his coach from Ernesto Rondon High School; Rency Raquid accompanied by his coach, Ms. Chinia Dimalibot from New Era High School; and lastly, Shara Maricel Escorpizo accompanied by Mr. Ammar Torrevillas her coach from San Francisco High School.

Indeed, each contestant were applauded by the crowd due to their passion, energy, and determination not just to win the competition but to burst their heart out as young students of today. These were truly manifested in the meat of the lines they uttered during the event.

Finally, the victors of the competition who went home with trophies and certificates graced by Ms Amy P.Dalisay, Mrs. Princess Velasquez (Admin Unit Head), and Mr. Niel barrios (Career Adviser/Admissions Head) were Alvin Royce Alanib from Ernesto Rondon High School as the 2nd Runner Up; Marnelli Catacutan from San Francisco High School as the 1st Runner Up; and Rency Raquid from New Era High School as the Champion.

As always, the school felt glorious in begetting the chance to empower the students and make the voice of the youth be heard through such another motivating and overwhelming event. STI-Muñoz EDSA wishes to share the thought that the whole thing is all in our hands. As Franklin Roosevelt once mentioned in one of his speeches, “We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future”.
