Digital Film Fest, A First in STI!

The people have spoken! The stage were set and the lights spotted the winners after the successful Award’s Night of “Viva Voce: Scream Through Your Eyes!” last November 25, 2011 held at the open grounds of STI College Muñoz – EDSA.

After the three-month wait, the winners finally emerged in the college’s first Student Digital Film Festival which aims to enhance their technical skill in audio-video production and centers in the development and exposure of students to independent film making and multimedia arts, and how it can help the students in developing their interpersonal and socio-cultural skills and responsibility through making a film that reflects the life inside and outside the premises of college; and was divided into four categories: radio drama competition, music video competition, 3 minutes film competition and short film competition.

Prior to the award’s night, a public screening was also held at the Audio – Visual Room and an online streaming was also made available to the online community where viewers can vote for their choice through Viva Voce’s official Facebook Fanpage “Likes” and the official YouTube Channel “Views”. And on the week of the award’s night, the nominees where identified after the board of Judges casted their votes.

In the Radio Drama Competition, “Ella” by Unkabogable Production; “Mahal Kita Ngunit Nilagpasan Mo Ako” by TheRapist Production; “Tikboy: Sino Ang Tunay Mong Kaaway?” by Pektos Production and “Ultimate Master Baker:Episode 69” by Bullburritos Ultima made their way to the nomination spot by it was the “Ultimate Master Baker” won the award for Best Radio Drama. In the Music Video Competition, “Dental Care” by Pektos Production, “Alladin” by Unkabogable production and “The Way I” was by Bullburritos Ultima competed for the Best Music Video but “The Way I Was” emerged the best. In the 3 Minutes Film Competition, four entries were nominated namely, “BEX: Rise of the Thirds” by Unkabogable; “Libre” by TheRapist Production, “Tik Tak” by Bullburritos Ultima and “Tamad” by Golden Boy Production, where “Tik Tak” won over the other three entries. In the Short Film Competition, “Maskara” of Bullburritos Ultimate won Best Short Film winning against “Amats” of Golden Boy and TheRapist Production; “Dilim” by Tullongest Production and “The Making” of Unkabogable Production.

Individual awards were also given where back-to-back impressive performances of Christine Quilo as “Hanna” and Angelito Lopez Jr. as “Justin” from “Maskara” helped them in getting Best Actor and Best Actor. On the other hand, Maydalyn Maeda of “BEX: Rise of the Thirds” won Best Supporting Actress together with Maskara’s “Mang Matoy”, Joris Recto who won Best Supporting Actor. Bullburitos Ultima made a very outstanding performance this year which paved way for them snatching the Best Editing, Best Script and Best Directing awards.

The event was also participated by the college’s STI Idols, Dance Club and Theater Guild which formed the Performing Arts Club of STI College Muñoz – EDSA, who also graced the night with their opening number, “No Other Woman” spoof, song number from selected students and the Idols themselves.

The organizers thank the participating students, the staff and the faculty members who served as award presentors for their support during the awarding ceremony. They were looking forward to continued support next year.
