Campus Pearls OF STI Muñoz EDSA

sampleIn celebration of our Pearl Anniversary this year, we have chosen 3 students of STI College-Muñoz EDSA that we want to feature in this month’s article.  In our campus, we considered them as best representations of this rare gem.

As we all know, pearls came from the inside protective shell of an oyster.  Oyster has the ability to protect itself from irritants slipping inside its shell by covering them with layers of nacre.  Out of this nacre-covered irritants came precious and rare gems called pearls.

STI College-Muñoz EDSA salutes these three (3) Campus Pearls in celebration of STI’s 30th Anniversary in August 2013.  These three Campus Pearls are considered as our “precious” gems who just like how oysters turned irritants into pearls, they too turned their struggles in life into triumphs. They are truly winning STI’ers, the pride and honor of our school.

Our first pearl, Mr. Carlex Rol P. Jalmasco, is our BSCS cum-laude for this year. His story is very inspirational considering that he chose to pursue BSCS by setting aside his interest to become a writer in order to pursue the dream of his mother.  His mother was not able to finish her degree of BSCS in college.  This inspired Carlex to pursue the dream of his mother through his own effort.  Out of the purity of his heart, not only did he finish college earning the degree which her mother was aspiring for during her time, he was able to do so with flying colors.  Now, Carlex can continue to pursue his dreams and his mother will be there to support him.

Our second pearl, Ms. Joressa S. Babanto, is our DMA student and the reigning Ms. STI in our campus.  On top of this, she bagged the Ms. STI 2nd Runner-up title in last year’s Talent Search National Competition 2012.  She is continuously bringing pride and honor to our campus by being one of the featured “limang sikat” models appearing in TV commercials and billboard ads all over the country.  Her being beautiful is not what makes her our “pearl”.  Since childhood, she has been struggling with her weight and at some point in her life, she was considered to be obese.  Until finally she realized that it is not about being fat that she should be concerned about, it is about being unhealthy.  She drastically changed her lifestyle by concentrating on having healthy perspective in approach in life, food, and activities.  Now she is fit, beautiful, and living at the top of her life, she is surely a dazzling pearl in her own right.

Our last but not the least pearl, Ms. Maria Elvira R. Serna, is our BSIT who is visually impaired but made herself indispensable in any endeavor she takes.  She is a fighter who always proved herself that she can do what a normal person can.  She is always open to new challenges and takes every hardship in a positive way that made her more valuable despite of her condition.  She is presently connected to Price Solution Philippines Incorporated.  She is also a scholar of Resources for the Blind Incorporated (RBI).

The school acknowledges our very own three campus pearls.  They are only a few of our precious gems waiting to be discovered.  As we continue our “ANGAT ESTUDYANTE” advocacy, these gems will leave their protective shell and with courage in their hearts, they will be put on display for all people to see.
